Diseases of the cat's gastrointestinal tract

main pathologies

exaphogites

They can be caused by taking drugs, so it is good that your cat, immediately after taking the drugs, is also given food so as not to inflame the esophagus and cause strictures, which would lead to regurgitation.

gastritis

They arise spontaneously, manifest themselves with vomiting, reduced appetite and, at times, the sick person shows an unbridled desire to swallow green grass. Some secondary forms are linked to allergic and hormonal problems.

ulcers

They are very common in cats, they are often due to the intake of drugs, mainly anti-inflammatory drugs and severe kidney failure. Mainly the sick specimen vomits sometimes with blood, it can also present dark stools, due to blood digestion.

enteriti

They can be caused by an incorrect diet, bacteria or viruses. They manifest themselves with diarrhea, vomiting, inappetence and weight loss, in some cases, moreover, temperature rises can also occur. Parasitic enteritis is caused by worms, which are common in puppies or those that go out into the garden.

constipation

It can be easily recognized due to conglutinated faeces with skeins of hair, especially in long-haired cats. Foreign bodies wedged in the intestine or tumors must not be excluded.
