How to store wool garments

best preserve our most precious wool garments

If we are already thinking about the change of season, here are some tips for storing wool garments with care and finding them intact and ready for use next winter.

wool clothes take care
  1. Let's take some of our free time first
  2. We wash the clothes before storing them. We always prefer hand washing, in cold or warm water. If the garment contains beads, embroidery, rhinestones or decorations that can release color or be damaged, it is better to use cold water.
  3. Rinse the garment with plenty of running water, always at a low temperature, and dab it between two towels, exerting light pressure with your hands. Never wring!
  4. Let us now spread it down on a flat surface giving it back its original shape with our hands. Never spread it out, it would deform!
  5. Better not to use the iron, rather we spray steam from a distance of 4/5 cm. In such a way that the steam itself will stretch the fibers
  6. We protect garments from moths: whether we store them in drawers or wardrobes, we never forget to protect woolen garments from moths, storing them in plastic cases or vacuum bags: inside which we could insert sachets with natural moths like cedar, mint, lavender or use mothballs.
