Gate valves

what they are and what they are for

gate valve shut-off valve tap

The gate valves or shut-off valves are the main "taps" of the hydraulic systems that intercept the water from the aqueduct's large diameter pipes.

They open and close the flow of water through a metal plate operated by a command, which is why they are called sluices.

They are usually placed upstream of the meter.

They are used:

  • on adduction pipelines and drinking water distribution networks

  • on irrigation networks

  • on fire networks

  • in water treatment plants

  • in pumping stations

  • in tanks (hydraulic circuit).
